Lineagesmith App: Family Tree and Anniversaries (coming soon)
Last updated 2026-10-29
Lineagesmith: Family Tree is the phone app that goes with the tools on this site. It is not on the App Store or Google Play yet; this page shows what it is built to do, and the form below sends you one email when it is out. It builds on the relationship calculator, the GEDCOM viewer, the yahrzeit calculator and the family tree poster here.
Phone app
The tools on this site run in any browser. The app is for what a family tree needs on your phone: memorial days that remind you, and a tree that stays with you.
- Android: Coming soon
- iPhone and iPad: Coming soon
What only the app does
Memorial days on your family's own calendar
A memorial day moves from year to year when your family counts by the Hebrew or a lunar calendar, so a paper calendar does not help.
- Android: Coming soon Works out the Yahrzeit on the Hebrew calendar, Japanese nenki memorial years and Korean jesa and gi-il dates, and reminds you with notifications set on your phone.
- iPhone and iPad: Coming soon The same memorial days and reminders.
Your tree stays on your phone
A family tree is private, and you want it in your pocket at the family gathering, not in an upload form.
- Android: Coming soon Add and edit as many people as you like and open or export GEDCOM files. The tree stays on your phone, with no account.
- iPhone and iPad: Coming soon The same tree editor and GEDCOM import and export.
A health check for the tree you just opened
A GEDCOM file from a relative often hides impossible dates and duplicate people that nobody has seen yet.
- Android: Coming soon The import health check lists impossible dates, broken links and possible duplicates.
- iPhone and iPad: Coming soon The same import health check.

Free and Pro (planned)
Planned for the first release: free is unlimited people, GEDCOM import, editing and export, tree charts, the relationship calculator, the import health check and one-page charts as PDF and PNG, with a look at your next three anniversaries. Pro adds print-ready posters, anniversary reminders for everyone, the family book PDF and several trees; your data is never locked, you can always export the whole tree. Prices are shown in the store when the app is released.
